Today, Wednesday 6th March 2025, saw the first Treasure Our Town session for over 5 years… And what a success it was!

We were joined by volunteers including some of our town councillors and Pick Up for Pendle so a big thank-you to you all. We were also joined by some fabulous students from West Street Community Primary School who were an absolute delight! They worked so hard and are a real credit to their school – thank-you so much for your hard work today, we couldn’t have done it without you!

In just one hour we collected a huge amount of rubbish and dumped items from the woodland behind Windy Bank. Thanks to the efforts of all the volunteers, the area looked so much better afterwards.

Today, the session did focus mainly on litter picking but the Treasure Our Town initiative is also about recognising and reporting defects and issues around our town, which can then be reported and resolved or improved. Today, as well as the litter picking we also identified and made a note of the following which will be reported to Pendle Council:

– Numerous examples of graffiti

– Flytipped bag of cement

– Overgrown weeds down the ginnel footpath

– Over flowing bins

Thank-you once again to everyone who took part. Our next session will be on Wednesday the 3rd of April, with more details to be posted across our social media in the coming weeks.
