Position sought: Finance Officer (36hrs a week over 5 days)

(Although this is advertised as a full time position, part-time working hours, paid on a pro-rata basis, may be negotiated for the right candidate.)

Salary: £24,120 – £26,550 per annum depending on experience.

Colne Town Council has responsibility for delivery of Town Centre CCTV, Children’s Playgrounds, Multi Use Games Areas (MUGAs), Bus Shelters, Benches, Primet Community Centre, Colne Town Hall and Annex, 5 retail units and more recently, the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival.  All of this is on top of the management of an active and geographically dispersed Allotment portfolio and an already very active events programme, including the Colne Cycle Grand Prix, Seasonal Festivals, Markets and Hallowe’en events and occasional local markets.

The Post

Colne Town Council is looking for a Finance Officer to support the RFO in the management of the financial affairs of Colne Town Council.  

Hours 36 per week over 5 days – Salary: £24,120 – £26,550 per annum depending on experience.

The FO will be responsible for the financial affairs of Colne Town Council and will support the Town Clerk & RFO in providing the Council with detailed financial guidance as to the availability of resources.

The successful applicant will be studying or have completed and passed an Accounting Course at level 2 or above, such as AAT or have at least 3 years’ experience of working in an accounting environment. They will be able to carry out all aspects of financial transaction processing up to the completion of annual accounts, will be highly literate and numerate, have good IT and presentational skills, and be able to communicate well with all types of audience. This role is politically restricted.
