Position sought: Finance Officer (25hrs a week over 4 days)
Salary: £16,750 – £18,437 per annum depending on experience.

Background

Colne Town Council has responsibility for delivery of Town Centre CCTV, Children’s Playgrounds, Multi Use Games Areas (MUGAs), Bus Shelters, Benches, Primet Community Centre, Colne Town Hall and Annex, 5 retail units and more recently, the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival.  All of this is on top of the management of an active and geographically dispersed Allotment portfolio and an already very active events programme, including the Colne Cycle Grand Prix, Seasonal Festivals, Markets and Hallowe’en events and occasional local markets.

The Post

Colne Town Council is looking for a Financial Officer to support the RFO in the management of the financial affairs of Colne Town Council.  

Hours 25 per week over 4 days – Salary: £16,750 – £18,437 per annum depending on experience.

The FO will be responsible for the financial affairs of Colne Town Council and will support the Town Clerk & RFO in providing the Council with detailed financial guidance as to the availability of finance.

The successful applicant will have a formal accountancy qualification, be able to carry out all aspects of financial transaction processing up to the completion of annual accounts, will be highly literate and numerate, have good IT and presentational skills, and be able to communicate well with all types of audience. This role is politically restricted.

The Post

The Clerical Officer (CO) of Colne Town Council is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day administration of the Town Council, supporting the Town Clerk & RFO and Councillors to deliver the best outcomes for the Council and the people of Colne.

Well organised, flexible, and reactive, the CO will thrive in a busy office environment with developing and ever-changing activities.  Task driven and highly motivated, the CO is a completer-finisher through and through.  The CO is the primary interface with members of the public and will also deal with residents, suppliers, staff, and other parts of local Government.  The CO will be enthusiastic about the growth of the Council, as it embarks on new projects, assisting the Town Clerk & RFO and EAO administratively, as appropriate.  There is some evening and weekend working when meetings and events are being held.
