COLNE’S FOOTPATH NETWORK

Colne sits in some of the most glorious countryside in upland Lancashire.

We are also blessed with some great walks – along South Valley or across the ancient woodland on the Alkincoates Estate, by way of example.

Our councillors decided that footpaths are so important to our residents that we pay an additional sum to Pendle Council and LCC for ‘enhanced access’, which means that our footpaths are kept to a high standard. If you encounter any problems on a Colne Footpath, let us know precisely where and we will pass the information on.

Recently, we awarded a grant to Lidgett and Beyond, the community group in East Colne, to create the first new route for many years: The East Colne Way. This route is now ready for walking and is on the doorstep of Horsfield and Lidgett. The East Colne Way is a circular, moderate walk of approximately five miles and passes through not only lovely countryside, but areas of historical interest too.

You can also see links below to other, more established Colne walks.

Enjoy!
