Colne has transformed its high street by bringing shuttered old arcades back into use as thriving, quirky businesses. It has also improved footfall in the town centre by introducing free parking across the town. Colne offers a fantastic variety of events throughout the year, attracting visitors from far and wide, ranging from the award-winning Rhythm and Blues Festival and cycling races, to exotic food festivals and specialist markets. The award-winning Colne in Bloom volunteers work tirelessly to both ornament and increase town pride. All this has resulted in vacancy rates falling from approximately 17% to 12%.
