The Headline Sponsor for the 2018 Colne Grand Prix has been announced as Fort Vale Engineering.
Councillor Ashley Sutcliffe, Chair of Colne Town Council’s Events Committee said: “We’re delighted that Fort Vale – has agreed to be the main sponsor, supporting this exciting event which brings world class cyclists into Colne.”
Shaun Laycock, General Manager explained, ‘Fort Vale is a family run business who put their employees at the heart of all they do and as part of that actively promote health and wellbeing of our employees by encouraging an active lifestyle. We are about to open ‘Wilson Fort Sports Center’ our own bespoke sports facility for use of Fort Vale employees and we very much see supporting the Colne Cycling Grand Prix – Elite series final as a natural fit with our own philosophy.
Shaun Laycock commented: “There are lots of very keen cyclists within our company, including Jack Thomas who again will compete in this year’s Colne Grand Prix; Colne Grand Prix is one of the highlights of our year!”
Following the huge success of last year’s race, British Cycling has announced that Colne will host the final of the men’s HSBC UK | National Circuit Series for the Third time. “This will be no holiday for the cyclists, I can assure you,” said Colin Hill, Chief Executive Officer for Colne Town Council. “Colne is the toughest of all races in the National Circuit Series, which makes it a fantastic free spectator event, as top cyclists battle it out in Colne Town Centre for team and individual honours.
This year The Town Council is going up a gear, printing over 5,000 free programmes and more Colne businesses are supporting the Colne Grand Prix, with banners showing their loyalty lining the race course. Colne Town Council hopes that ‘Colners’ will be out in force, joining thousands of cycling fans thronging Colne’s High Street for the 15th Colne Grand Prix on Wednesday, 25th July 2018 from 6.15 pm.
