All the Easter favourites are coming back to Colne this Saturday – a display of the children’s egg decorating competition in the Library, free donkey rides, a food, drink and craft market on Parliament Street car park, live music, dance and the return of the Easter Egg Hunt are all planned for Easter Saturday. The Town Council’s Events Committee, has been working on the event through the winter, and is excited to support the Town with yet another event helping to raise the profile of Colne.
Cllr. Ash Sutcliffe, Chairman of the Events Committee, said: “We have had over a thousand entries to our Egg Decorating Competition for primary school children in the area, which this year will be displayed in Colne Library. We are grateful to Farmhouse Biscuits for once again sponsoring the prizes for this, and the Easter Egg Treasure Hunt. We have sold 30 pitches for our Market, so have lots of tempting treats on offer. There is no question that Colne will be the place to be this Easter Saturday!”
Visitors to Colne will be entertained by Barnoldswick Brass Band, Oakenhoof Clog and Morris Dancers, and Helen Green’s Dance Academy throughout the day. There is also a funfair for children in Hartley Square. A hallmark of Colne Town Council’s events programme, continues to be the number of children’s activities that can be enjoyed for free. Easter Saturday will see free crafting in both the Market and the Library, as well as free face painting in the Market. All successful completions of the Colne Easter Egg Treasure Hunt will receive a Prize – to enter simply call in at the Colne Town Council gazebo (with the Scouts in it), which will be on the Outdoor Market throughout the day.
