Colne Town Council investing in Playgrounds in Colne.
Colne Town Council Precept Payers may appreciate that amongst the many services Colne Town Council
have taken on to deliver from Pendle Borough Council, Alkincoates Park, the Grade 2 listed Town Hall and a
number of playground sites are some of the biggest.
In February 2020 Colne Town Council went out to consultation to borrow £160,000 towards a playground improvements project around Colne and the loan was accepted for the Town Council to take the project
forward.
Colne Town Council’s portfolio of playgrounds was reviewed and identified a large amount of improvement works which needed to be undertaken to improve the play value of the play in order to replace surfaces as well as equipment, where replacement is needed.
Overall investment in the project is going to be circa £190,000 by the Town Council.
Five of the Town Council owned playgrounds will be undergoing a refit/refurbishment over the coming 10 weeks and we hope that residents will understand that for this to take place they will be temporarily closed but will be opened after the improvements. The playgrounds being worked on will be Alkincoates, King George V, West Street, Waterside Upper and Waterside Lower.
Councillor Mary Thomas, Chairman of Colne Town Council said ‘ this is the latest improvement project that the Town Council have undertaken, and we are excited to be able to improve the facilities available in Colne for the residents’.
